Avery Healthcare is one of the UK's largest providers of luxury elderly care homes, committed to creating meaningful lives together for their residents and team. As a Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for ensuring the building and grounds are well maintained, carrying out a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checking services, and applying basic fixes to equipment and systems to keep facilities fully functional.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure the building and grounds are well maintained.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks and check services.
- Apply basic fixes to equipment and systems.
- Ensure facilities remain fully functional.
- Carry out all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs, including electrical, plumbing, joinery, and building work both inside and outside the Home.
- Support new residents to arrange their rooms as they wish.
- Ensure routine redecorations are undertaken to maintain standards in the Home.
- Advise on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks and ensure timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods.
- Provide out-of-hours emergency service and participate in the on-call rota.
About you / Qualifications
- Have a minimum of one year of experience in a general maintenance or handy person role and/or hold a professional qualification in a trade.
- Hold a full driving licence.
- Have knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly moving and handling techniques, fire safety, and COSHH assessments.
- Be able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities on short notice.
Required checks
- DBS Disclosure check, the cost of which will be met by Avery Healthcare.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
Person Specification
