Avenues is a community where people smile, laugh, grow and achieve great things. We are seeking an Assistant Service Manager to join the team within our Beresford Gardens, Margate service. Beresford Garden is a Supported living service which supports 2 people with complex needs, profound learning disabilities, autism and mild behaviours that challenge. One of the service users is able to use some Makaton signs. Both also require a high level of personal care support. This is a hands-on role.

The candidate will play a key role in managing these changes and will have a passion for driving improvement for the best interest of the people we support. Willingness to be part of the On-call team is essential.

Our ideal Assistant Service Manager looks like this:

  • Work with your Service Manager to manage and lead a successful and positive team.
  • Understand the balance between keeping our people safe and positive risk taking.
  • Have a good understanding of the social care sector and how these benefits and impacts the people we support.
  • Stay up to date with policies and procedures to carry out and maintain safe and best practices.
  • Support the Service Manager to recruit new employees and develop and manage your staff team in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Work with your Service Manager to reinforce a positive culture of continuous improvement.
  • Act as the Service Manager in their absence.
  • Be flexible and able to work shifts required: bank holidays, 7am – 2:30pm and 2pm – 9:30pm, no night shifts required. These hours may occasionally need to be extended to provide 1-1 support and guidance to Support Staff on duty as required and this may involve working past 21.30 to do night staff supervision. Late shifts are 2:30pm - 10pm.
