The Design Engineer is responsible for the mechanical design and layout of bespoke cooling water systems, from concept through to fabrication and installation. This includes creating detailed drawing packages, conducting engineering calculations, and supporting project documentation. The role demands a strong focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery in accordance with client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritise Health & Safety by ensuring compliance with all company policies and relevant legislation for yourself and others.
  • Ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors under your supervision adhere to safe systems of work and company HSE procedures.
  • Design mechanical cooling water systems, including all associated piping and structural components.
  • Produce detailed layouts and complete drawing packages for fabrication and assembly using CAD software.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support structural, mechanical, and process design.
  • Support the Project Manager in preparing technical documentation and submissions for clients.
  • Manage and control the development of fabricated components from design to completion, ensuring alignment with client requirements.
  • Deliver high quality drawing packages within project timelines.

Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably within the cooling systems or industrial piping sector.
  • Proficient in using CAD software to produce 2D and 3D design packages.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, including structural and mechanical calculations.
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes and assembly requirements.
  • Experience in managing components and systems from concept through to installation.
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation relevant to engineering and construction projects.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and clients.
