The purpose of the MI/BI & Insight Manager is to effectively lead and co-ordinate a team of MI Analysts, Data Analysts and BI Developers to generate, analyse and present information for key operational and business activities in order to deliver insightful analysis and reporting to support Business Managers. This role must ensure that these functions are carried out in line with controlled policies, procedures, legislative and regulatory requirements, while providing exceptional internal customer service and driving business growth.

Key responsibilities include:

• Play a key role in the development of the roadmap for the data platform and reporting solutions.
• Act as key curator of data within the team, being responsible for the processes of collection, governance, storage, security and accessibility of all our data.
• Create an MI and BI Framework that will be followed by the team to ensure a common way of working and avoid data quality issues.
• Drive the BI strategy and ensure the department meets organisational goals.
• Manage BI/MI lifecycle management, incorporating business users into the design process.
• Overall responsibility for management, prioritisation, and delivery of data-driven initiatives within the organisation.
• Optimise the use of commercial and enterprise data within the organisation.
• Ensure that data is well-structured and of sufficient quality to provide meaningful insights.
• Help define a data and analytics strategy according to industry best practice.
• Utilise knowledge of insurance industry processes combined with effective use of data to aid decision making.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data requirements and ensure data quality and integrity.
• Showcase and keep up to date with developments in enterprise BI tools, especially Microsoft Power BI.
• Implement policies and procedures, as well as documentation and governance.
• Create a Centre of Excellence for Insight and analysis for the whole Aventum Group.
• Identify data quality issues and support the data governance initiative by developing exceptional reports.
• Model business logic, extract key performance metrics, and create reusable data structures.
• Maintain data availability and usability, e.g. SQL.
• Support data munging and normalisation as part of ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Dive deep to create trustworthy and understandable data for insights on customer experience and satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• Degree-level education in a relevant subject (e.g. finance, maths, physics).
• Proficient in Structured Query Language (SQL), Critical Thinking, R or Python, Data Visualisation, Presentation Skills, Machine Learning & Data Science techniques.
• Strong Data Mapping skills, knowledge of Data Warehousing Concepts, and Logical Modelling Skills.
• Previous experience and good understanding of Azure data tools.
• Proficient in Power BI.
• Project Management experience with software development methodologies such as Agile.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills – Excel and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of project management, change management and systems processes.
• Familiarity with Cloud Computing platforms and Microsoft Stack is a plus.
• Languages: Python, SQL, T-SQL, SSIS.
• DB: Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, NoSQL.
• Agile, DevOps experience required.
• Concepts: ELT/ETL, DWH, APIs, Spark APIs, FTP protocols, SSL, SFTP, PKI and Integration testing.
