We are supporting a major UK transmission system operator on Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1), one of the most significant electricity transmission projects driving the UK’s energy transition. EGL1 is a 525 kV HVDC interconnector connecting Scotland and England, enabling large-scale renewable energy transfer and supporting the UK Net Zero agenda.

The Role

We are looking for a Consents Manager to take ownership of environmental and consents compliance during the construction phase of the project. You will act as the key interface between the contractor team and the Employer’s Consents function, ensuring all regulatory, environmental, and planning obligations are delivered across Scotland, England, and offshore works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental and consents compliance across construction activities
  • Ensure adherence to DCO, CEMP and all associated environmental requirements
  • Coordinate environmental works programmes (surveys, mitigation, monitoring, licences)
  • Act as main interface with Employer Consents teams
  • Deliver weekly/monthly reporting and environmental audits
  • Manage environmental incidents, investigations, and close-out actions
  • Ensure subcontractors and site teams are fully briefed on consents obligations

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience on major UK infrastructure construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation
  • Hands-on experience with DCO compliance during construction
  • Background in environmental management / consents on linear infrastructure projects
  • Experience managing environmental programmes and stakeholder interfaces
  • Exposure to cross-jurisdiction projects (Scotland / England) is highly desirable
  • HVDC / energy infrastructure experience is a strong advantage
