Aveni is redefining how financial institutions use AI. We build real, production-ready agentic systems that reshape how banks, advisers and financial services firms operate, replacing fragmented processes with intelligent, end-to-end workflows. We have been recognised as Fintech of the Year for two consecutive years and awarded Best Specialist Technology Service at the Professional Adviser Awards 2025. Backed by leading investors including Puma Private Equity, and commercially supported by Lloyds Banking Group and Nationwide Building Society, we previously completed one of Scotland’s largest Series A rounds. Since then, we’ve continued to grow rapidly as adoption of AI in financial services accelerates, and we’re now scaling our team to meet that demand.

Our platform powers everything from automated compliance monitoring to AI-driven adviser guidance, helping some of the UK’s largest financial institutions deploy AI safely within FCA-regulated environments.

The Role

We’re looking for a Technical Platform Owner to sit at the heart of our Platform Engineering function, the team responsible for building the shared foundations that power every Aveni product. This is a newly created role, designed to bring structure, clarity and momentum to a rapidly scaling engineering environment. With multiple product teams depending on shared platform capabilities across five engineering domains, the complexity of coordinating, prioritising and shaping work has grown significantly. You’ll own that coordination layer.

Working closely with our Head of Platform Engineering, you’ll act as the bridge between product and platform teams, ensuring work is properly defined, prioritised and technically understood before engineers begin delivery. You’ll help create the systems, processes and communication rhythms that allow our platform engineering teams to move quickly without sacrificing quality. This is an ideal role for someone who combines technical credibility with strong organisational instincts and enjoys bringing clarity to complex engineering environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Acting as the primary intake point for platform requests coming from product teams and stakeholders.
  • Running requirements workshops to turn high-level product goals into clearly scoped platform initiatives.
  • Owning sprint planning, backlog refinement and quarterly planning across multiple platform squads.
  • Collaborating closely with engineers and technical leads to shape work items with the right technical depth and acceptance criteria.
  • Managing competing priorities across multiple engineering domains while maintaining delivery quality and alignment.
  • Communicating platform roadmap progress, delivery status and risks clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Identifying inefficiencies in platform workflows and improving how work moves through the organisation.
  • Using AI tooling and automation to improve engineering coordination, delivery visibility and operational efficiency.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Technical Product Owner, Technical Programme Manager, Engineering Delivery Lead, or similar role within a software engineering environment.
  • A background in software engineering or hands-on technical delivery, with the ability to build credibility quickly with engineering teams.
  • Experience coordinating work across multiple engineering squads or technical domains simultaneously.
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to lead technical discussions and planning sessions.
  • The ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous or fast-moving problems.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
  • Experience working in modern engineering environments using technologies such as AWS, Node.js and Python.
  • A collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and a pragmatic approach to delivery.

Why Join Aveni

  • Work on genuinely difficult and meaningful problems at the intersection of AI, regulation and financial services.
  • Help shape the future of an AI-native engineering organisation during a major growth phase.
  • Join a team that actively embraces AI-assisted development and operational tooling.
  • Influence how platform engineering operates across the business at a strategic level.
  • Be part of a close-knit, ambitious company that values curiosity, ownership and thoughtful execution.
