My client is a significant global hedge fund entering an exciting period of growth. They are seeking a Senior Employment Counsel to join their legal function in London.
The Role
Acting as the primary adviser on employment law matters across the business, with responsibility for both UK and selected international jurisdictions. This position will have a high level of autonomy providing strategic advice on cross-jurisdictional employment matters and shaping bespoke incentive arrangements, and navigating sensitive issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day advice on UK employment law and relevant international matters
- Draft, review and negotiate employment contracts, senior hire arrangements and incentive documentation
- Advise on restructurings, cross-border employment, promotions, exits and redundancies
- Manage employee relations issues including disciplinary processes, grievances and dismissals
- Handle employment disputes and tribunal matters, liaising with external counsel where required
- Develop and maintain employment policies and documentation
- Advise on employment-related risk, governance and regulatory considerations
- Support internal investigations and deliver employment law training
Skills & Experience
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) or equivalent
- Ideally 8+ years’ post-qualification experience
- Strong knowledge of employment law gained in-house within financial services, funds or a fast-paced commercial environment, or strong private practice background.
- Strong expertise in both contentious and non-contentious employment law
- Experience drafting senior-level incentive, bonus or equity arrangements
- Sound commercial judgement and ability to work in a high-performance environment
- Confident advising senior stakeholders with excellent communication and negotiation skills
