About the role

As a Tender Manager, you’ll lead end‑to‑end supplier tender and request‑for‑price processes, working closely with clients, procurement colleagues and suppliers. You’ll play a key role in delivering robust, impartial tenders that support client objectives and drive sustainable business growth. You’ll be the technical expert throughout the tender lifecycle — from early engagement and evaluation through to supplier mobilisation and continuous improvement.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing a programme of professional, transparent and impartial supplier tenders
  • Working with clients and stakeholders to define requirements, evaluation criteria and submission methods
  • Engaging proactively with suppliers, including pre‑tender engagement sessions
  • Coordinating and managing tender submissions via Pelican’s online portal
  • Evaluating bids to ensure competitiveness, value and risk mitigation
  • Producing clear, high‑quality tender evaluation reports to support decision‑making
  • Supporting evaluation meetings and simplifying complex information for stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with UK Procurement Law and internal frameworks
  • Supporting supplier contract mobilisation and post‑award activities
  • Driving continuous improvement in tendering processes and reporting

Growth & commercial impact

  • Contributing to achieving company rebate targets
  • Building strong commercial business cases where required
  • Analysing tender outcomes and sharing insights with suppliers and internal teams

Stakeholder & supplier management

  • Building strong, professional relationships with a diverse supplier base
  • Identifying innovative and forward‑thinking suppliers
  • Supporting post‑bid feedback, learning and best‑practice sharing
  • Providing accurate forecasting and progress reporting, proactively managing risks

What we’re looking for

Essential:

  • 2 - 5 years of experience in public and/or private sector tender processes
  • Excellent commercial and financial acumen
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills
  • Project management experience in a fast‑paced environment
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to interpret and translate complex information
  • Excellent written, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Advanced Excel skills

Desirable:

  • CIPS or MCIPS qualification (highly advantageous)
  • Food sector or market knowledge
