We’re looking for an experienced Procurement & Client Services Manager to lead a team of Client Procurement Managers (Senior Account Managers) while managing a small portfolio of strategic clients. This is a commercially focused role for someone who thrives on leadership, client engagement, and delivering tangible procurement outcomes.
You’ll play a pivotal role in driving client retention, growth, and procurement excellence, while helping demonstrate the full value of professional procurement services.
About the roleReporting to the Client Services Director, the Procurement & Client Services Manager will:
- Lead and develop a high‑performing Client Procurement Management team
- Own a limited client portfolio with an annual spend of several millions
- Drive client intensification, retention, and commercial growth
- Act as a senior procurement expert, supporting complex client and new business opportunities
- Work cross‑functionally to support wider business growth and operational efficiency
This role combines people leadership, client management, commercial strategy, and procurement operations.
What you’ll be doingLeadership & Team Management
- Lead the Client Procurement Manager function, setting a clear strategic direction aligned to business objectives
- Build a culture of high performance, collaboration, innovation, and client dedication
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members through regular performance reviews, feedback, and development planning
- Set, monitor, and review individual and team KPIs, including client retention and category growth targets
- Identify capability gaps and proactively implement training, coaching, and development solutions
- Deputise for the Client Services Director when required, supporting overall procurement strategy delivery
Client Management & Service Excellence
- Oversee the delivery of the Client Management strategy across the procurement team
- Establish clear client and team planning priorities, including engagement schedules, reviews, and intensification targets
- Lead procurement strategy discussions with senior client stakeholders, aligning solutions to client and business objectives
- Proactively identify, manage, and escalate any at‑risk clients to protect retention and service quality
- Lead regular project and performance reviews, ensuring delivery against agreed outcomes and timelines
- Support the mobilisation of new client contracts, including the successful implementation of e‑procurement systems
Commercial & Financial Performance
- Build and manage a robust intensification pipeline aligned to business growth objectives
- Deliver incremental client purchasing opportunities across food and non‑food categories (e.g. maintenance, uniforms, laundry, stationery)
- Lead structured account planning processes to deliver client‑specific financial and performance targets
- Work closely with New Business and internal stakeholders to support major prospects and present evaluation reports
- Ensure all procurement activity delivers measurable value, compliance, and client satisfaction
- Proven procurement experience within a foodservice or complex supply chain environment
- Strong account management experience with demonstrable client retention and growth results
- Experience successfully leading and developing teams
- MCIPS qualified (or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of UK, EU, and non‑EU procurement processes
- Commercially astute with strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organised, analytical, and able to manage competing priorities
- Comfortable with frequent UK travel
- Experience delivering non‑food category growth
- Strong numerical and data analysis skills
- Advanced procurement systems or e‑procurement implementation experience
- Experience supporting new business or bid activity
