An independent, SRA-regulated law firm with offices in Manchester, Leeds, London and Croydon is seeking an accomplished senior lawyer at, or ready for, Partner level to join and help lead its Crime & Regulatory practice. The team is well established and highly regarded, ranked in Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners for crime, health & safety and professional discipline. It undertakes complex, often high-profile work for insured and non-insured clients across regulated sectors.
The team advises businesses and individuals across the full spectrum of crime and regulatory matters, including:
- Inquests and public inquiries
- Professional discipline and regulatory proceedings
- Gross misconduct investigations, including policing matters
- Health & safety, licensing and environmental matters
- Entity regulation, with a focus on Ofsted and CQC
This is a senior leadership position combining fee-earning, supervision and strategic responsibility. The role will include:
- Helping lead and develop the Crime & Regulatory team
- Managing a varied and complex caseload
- Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers
- Contributing to strategy, growth and practice development
- Building and strengthening relationships with insurers, referrers, corporate clients and business partners
- Driving new business and revenue growth
- Managing financial performance, billing and KPIs
- Supporting governance, compliance and operational management
- Supporting legal advice line and business hub services
- Leading marketing, profile-raising and thought leadership activity
What we’re looking for:
- Significant expertise in one or more crime and regulatory practice areas
- Experience working with legal expenses insurance and general insurance referrals
- Strong understanding of insurer–law firm relationships
- Demonstrable technical excellence with a commercial mindset
- Proven experience supervising and leading legal teams
- A strong track record in client management and business development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong case management capability
