An international specialty insurer is looking to appoint an experienced Delegated Underwriter to join its War & Terrorism team in London. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within a market-leading Marine and Terrorism division, working on a global portfolio and partnering closely with brokers, coverholders and internal stakeholders across underwriting, claims, actuarial and exposure management.
The role: You will take ownership of delegated underwriting activities within the War & Terrorism product line, helping to ensure strong governance, high-quality underwriting and profitable growth. The role has a strong external focus, with regular interaction across the delegated value chain.
- Managing delegated underwriting policies, procedures and authority controls
- Conducting mid-year underwriting and delegated audits
- Delivering training to underwriting and support teams
- Working closely with coverholders, brokers and internal delegated teams to ensure data quality and exposure management
- Supporting performance reporting and metrics for senior management
- Acting as a subject matter expert and advocate for the War & Terrorism line within a global network
About you: You will be an experienced underwriter with a strong background in War, Terrorism or Political Violence, and a proven track record within delegated business.
You’ll bring:
- 5+ years' experience in War & Terrorism underwriting
- Strong understanding of delegated underwriting structures and market standards
- Experience delivering high-quality delegated underwriting results
- Broad knowledge of claims, actuarial, compliance and regulatory considerations
- Strong communication skills and confidence working in a matrixed, international environment
- A collaborative, proactive approach with excellent attention to detail
