Avencia are partnering with a leading global insurer to hire a Claims Adjuster into their growing London Market Claims team in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious claims professional looking to build their London Market exposure within a collaborative and highly respected team environment. The role offers genuine long-term progression, broad stakeholder exposure, and the chance to work closely with London-based colleagues across specialist lines of business.
The Leeds Claims team works closely with London Market colleagues across Marine Liability. You’ll manage a portfolio of higher-volume, lower-value London Market claims, playing a key role in delivering an excellent claims service and supporting the wider Claims Value Proposition. The successful candidate will align to one specialist area while benefiting from broad exposure across the wider team and market. This role would suit someone with existing commercial claims experience who is looking to further develop within the London Market environment.
Key Responsibilities- Managing a portfolio of London Market claims from first notification through to settlement
- Triaging, diarising and reviewing claims in line with reserving and claims philosophies
- Maintaining accurate records across internal and London Market systems
- Building strong working relationships with brokers, insureds, co‑insurers and third‑party providers
- Liaising with TPAs, lawyers and adjusters, monitoring service standards and escalating concerns where appropriate
- Collaborating with Underwriting, Actuarial and Reinsurance teams
- Assisting with reporting, claims trend analysis and MI
- Contributing ideas around process improvement and team initiatives
- Previous claims handling experience within commercial insurance
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Organised and proactive approach to workload management
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and learning new systems
- Exposure to the London Market environment
- Experience handling Marine, Energy, Renewables or Professional & Financial Risks claims
- Understanding of London Market systems and processes
- Experience analysing claims data or identifying trends
