One of the highest-profile actuarial contract opportunities currently on the market. We're supporting a leading specialist insurer in the search for an experienced Pricing Actuary to join its newly established Portfolio Management function. This is a unique opportunity to influence underwriting strategy, shape pricing capability and work directly with senior business leaders, including the Chief Underwriting Officer and Product Heads.

The Opportunity

  • You'll be responsible for calibrating 6–8 pricing models across the UK portfolio, building robust, repeatable processes that will underpin future pricing decisions.
  • Your work will include:
    • Reviewing and enhancing existing pricing model structures
    • Extracting and analysing data
    • Calibrating ground-up expected loss cost models
    • Back testing against historical portfolios
    • Reverse engineering rates into the existing rating structure
    • Identifying model performance and areas for improvement
    • Producing clear documentation for future calibration exercises
    • Presenting findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders

About You

  • You'll bring:
    • Extensive actuarial pricing experience within UK general insurance
    • A strong track record of developing and calibrating pricing models across multiple lines of business
    • Excellent technical and analytical capability
    • Experience influencing underwriting and business stakeholders
    • A strong understanding of UK liability insurance products
    • The ability to work autonomously while collaborating across underwriting, actuarial and portfolio management teams
