We are partnering with a leading specialist insurer to recruit a newly created Technical Underwriter position within their established Care division. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced underwriter to take on a highly technical and influential role, supporting one of the insurer's largest and most strategically important portfolios.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will act as a technical expert across the Care portfolio, supporting underwriting decisions, portfolio management, governance activity and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical underwriting expertise across complex and high-value Care risks.
- Support referral activity and underwriting decision-making across the team.
- Analyse portfolio performance, trends and underwriting outcomes to identify opportunities and risks.
- Contribute to underwriting governance, audits and control frameworks.
- Assist with product development, wording enhancements and underwriting strategy.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support the implementation of underwriting best practice.
- Collaborate with underwriting, distribution and operational teams to support profitable growth.
Skills & Experience
- Strong technical underwriting experience across commercial insurance.
- Background in Care, Commercial Combined, Property, Liability, Financial Lines or a related class.
- Confident handling complex risks, referrals or senior-level underwriting decisions.
- Good understanding of underwriting controls, governance and portfolio performance.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, challenge and support others.
- Collaborative, commercially minded and comfortable working with senior stakeholders.
