Avencia Consulting is partnering with a leading specialty insurer and Fortune 500 company to recruit an Assistant Actuarial Analyst for their London office. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate aspiring to become an actuary, or for actuaries currently working in life or pensions who are looking to transition into a new sector.

The role

  • Assist with the production of Actuarial statistics to other internal departments within a leading international insurer.
  • Assist with risk pricing analysis to support profitability.
  • Plan and parameterise insurance risk in the capital model.
  • Assist with the production of year-end reports, year-end returns and US Trust Fund calculations.
  • Analyse the solvency of clients based upon the ratios and thorough analysis, to ensure clients are able to pay off debts.
  • Assist with core tasks that support the overall department workload and strategy.
  • Support and be proactive with the enhancement of internal processes.
  • Attend regular check-ins to review performance so that you have every opportunity to progress and gain more autonomy within your role.
  • Commit to studying for actuarial exams.
  • Be proactive in developing your own knowledge, relating to both technical and soft skills.

Skills & experience

  • Have a numerate degree with a classification of 2:1 or above, or equivalent.
  • Be inquisitive and curious about the insurance world.
  • Aspire to become an Actuary with a commitment to becoming a student of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
  • Be patient, proactive, resilient and hard-working, with a strong eagerness to learn from experienced peers.
  • Be confident working with data to formulate calculations related to tasks.
  • Be team players who love building relationships, bringing out the best in others, and contributing to an enviable culture.
  • Be organised and dedicated, able to self-manage workloads effectively to deliver results in a timely manner.
  • Be strong problem solvers, targeting a high level of accuracy when making decisions.
