I am currently recruiting for a Head of Research and Development to work for a leading engineering organisation based in Devon. Salary up to £95,000 + 10% Bonus + Benefits.
The company are leaders within their field of expertise and are seen as the go-to organisation within their specialist product area, not only in the UK, but on an international basis. They have multiple offices throughout the UK, as well as being strategically positioned throughout the world. They have gone from strength to strength over recent years and via organic growth as well as a range of acquisitions they have strengthened their client offering ensuring they stay at the forefront of the market.
To support the growth of the business they now have the need to appoint a Head of Research and Development on a permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of 5 multidisciplined engineers. Your primary objective will be to manage the design and development of products from inception and transfer them across into manufacture ensuring necessary standards are adhered to. You will have the typical management responsibilities included such as project planning, delegation, resource allocation, training and development, performance reviews and appraisals.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Head of Research and Development, R&D Manager, Engineering Manager, Technical Manager, Product Development Manager or similar
- Previous experience managing people
- Previous evidence taking products from concept/design phase into manufacture
- Experience working in the medical domain (ISO:13485, FDA, MDD, MDR, MDSAP)
- Experience with plastic injection moulding, blow moulding, compression moulding, rotational moulding or plastic extrusion manufacturing processes
- Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacture) and/or DFA (Design for Assembly)
