I am currently recruiting for a Research Engineer to work for a cutting-edge technology company based in Glamorgan, but on a hybrid basis. Salary up to £55,000. The organisation has been in operation for many years and are worldwide leaders within the design, development, and manufacture of their highly intelligent products. As a business, they have a very impressive turnover, employ around 250 people and are constantly evolving their legacy products as well as designing and developing new innovative products to bring to market.

In line with demand for their products and to support the business with their innovation plans, they have the need to appoint another Research Engineer on a permanent basis. In this role, you will be working at prototype/early concept stage and will be a subject matter expert responsible for researching and developing new technologies and establishing how they could be implemented into highly sophisticated electro-mechanical products. This will involve looking at competitors, as well as emerging trends and technological advancements. This is an exploratory role, giving you a lot of freedom and scope to come up with groundbreaking solutions to some of engineering's most complex problems.

The areas of research will be focused around mechanical, electro-mechanical, thermal/heat transfer, optics, and electronics. You will be hands-on in the lab building and assembling prototypes to validate any findings and to act as proof of concept whilst backing up all work by raw data following the necessary trials and testing.

Essential Requirements:
  • At least 2 years' experience in a Research Engineer, Research and Development role (or similar) or a PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Optics or similar
  • Experience with mechanical/electro-mechanical
  • Hands-on experience building and assembling prototypes/test equipment
Desirable Requirements:
  • Experience with optics/optical engineering
  • Experience with electronics
