The Carlyle Group is seeking an experienced ESG Data Practitioner to join its Sustainability team in a mission-critical role. The Senior Analyst will lead ESG data management, analysis, and reporting across portfolio companies, fund-level initiatives, and firm-level disclosures. This role involves close collaboration with Investor Relations, Fund Management, and Investment teams to strengthen Carlyle’s ESG data infrastructure and reporting capabilities. It also offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the firm’s core strategic Sustainability objectives.
Responsibilities
- ESG Data Management & Analytics
- Lead the collection, consolidation, assurance preparation and disclosure of GHG emissions data across Carlyle’s global portfolio, including Scopes 1, 2, and relevant Scope 3 categories.
- Support implementation of emissions accounting in line with PCAF, GHG Protocol, and evolving regulatory expectations (e.g., SEC, SFDR).
- Partner with portfolio companies to improve emissions estimates, target-setting, and data quality over time.
- Leverage ESG data platforms and GHG accounting tools to enhance automation and analytics capabilities.
- Build and maintain ESG datasets to track progress toward Carlyle’s Net Zero 2050 goals and interim milestones.
- Reporting and Disclosures
- Support the preparation of internal and external sustainability reports, including Carlyle’s annual ESG and impact report, TCFD disclosure, and Data Convergence Initiative reporting.
- Lead the preparation of sustainability questionnaires including PRI and GRESB and regulatory disclosures including SFDR.
- Support LP engagement and regulatory disclosures with tailored data insights and visualizations.
- Respond to ESG due diligence questionnaires and RFPs with high-quality, data-driven inputs.
- Develop dashboards and data visualization tools for internal and external stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Investment, Investor Relations, Legal & Compliance, and Fund Management teams to support ESG integration and disclosures.
- Support climate scenario analysis, ESG risk identification, and portfolio-level sustainability analytics.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in ESG data, sustainability analytics, climate risk, or impact measurement—ideally in financial services or consulting.
- Experience with Corporate and Financial Institution GHG accounting required.
- 2 years of experience in an ESG-related financial/consulting/accounting role or similar industry, preferred.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills; advanced Excel required.
- Familiarity with ESG data providers and tools (e.g., Watershed).
- Experience with ESG frameworks: GHG Protocol, PCAF, TCFD, SFDR, ISSB, UNPRI.
- High proficiency in creating impactful slide decks and reports for senior stakeholders and clients.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and self-directed.
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
