The user community is an integral and powerful part of the Bloomberg Professional Terminal experience. From connecting with experts, sharing ideas and content with colleagues, tapping into fast-moving market insights from counterparties, sourcing liquidity, or negotiating pricing, the Terminal creates a Community of successful financial professionals. The Community Product group, as part of the Core Product division, build products that deliver real-time and compliant communication channels between users.
As a Product Manager for Community serving its most strategic core application, you will be primarily responsible for owning, setting direction and executing the product strategy for Instant Bloomberg (IB). IB is the chat platform at the center of the Bloomberg Terminal & Bloomberg Professional App experience. Users from all over the financial world use it to exchange ideas, research, trade inquiries, pricing, indications of interest, client insights, news, data and more. You will also be responsible for solving communication related problems and delivering features to support communication based financial workflows optimized for the Terminal, Web, iOS, iPadOS, VisionOS and Android.
Developments to Instant Bloomberg (IB) focuses within four main areas:
- Alerts/Feed/Search - mining the wealth of information in IB to present the most valuable and relevant insights, by designing the next generation of monitoring, alerting and search experiences.
- Native Mobile & Web experiences - helping IB users need to stay connected at all times, and be able to seamlessly continue the conversation away from the desk.
- Collaboration - allowing users to collaborate and share content throughout the Terminal, adding unique data and content into workflows.
- Performance & Compliance - maintain the performance and compliant features that our userbase trust and rely upon every millisecond.
The role requires close collaboration within the Product, Engineering, and UX teams and establishing effective partnerships with other Bloomberg product owners and engineers. You will be actively engaging with senior stakeholders to validate and iterate on product strategies and to identify new opportunities.
We will trust you to:
- Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap for Instant Bloomberg.
- Conduct user research, data analysis, and competitive benchmarking to identify and prioritize features that improve user experience.
- Translate product ideas into clear specifications, user stories, and requirements.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams through development cycles, and drive execution.
- Help define and execute on KPIs, using data to guide decisions and iterate on product features and strategy.
- Partner with sales, support, marketing and tech writing teams to ensure successful rollout and adoption of features.
- Keep up to date with changes/enhancements to iOS/iPadOS and Android and with the rapidly changing mobile app landscape.
- Ideate mobile-focused product ideas into detailed specs, user stories, and requirements.
You need to have:
- 5+ years of software product management experience.
- A data driven approach to product strategy.
- A proven track record of customer centricity and obsession leading to successful software products.
- Experience creating a product vision and roadmap, investigating trade-offs of various technical approaches, prioritizing difficult macro and micro level tradeoffs, and release management.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills and ability to work across cross functional teams and to break down large, complex business problems into discrete, achievable steps.
