Working Hours: 35 hours per week, 06:00 – 14:30, Monday – Friday.
Responsibilities:
As Halal Slaughter Operative you’ll be culling birds in line with Halal standards (you must fully understand the Islamic procedure and conditions for slaughtering animals). Once Halal slaughter has finished, you will operate within the Intake rotation for the remainder of the shift. You’ll be working in a fast‑paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment that is noisy, refrigerated in some areas, and manufactures short shelf‑life products where hygiene standards are critical. Involves handling and slaughtering of live poultry. Work is repetitive. Job rotation requires communication and teamwork. Factory is noisy, refrigerated in some areas manufacturing short shelf‑life products where hygiene is critical. Adhere to allergen controls. Wear correct PPE for the area you are working in. Be aware of, understand and adhere to health & safety procedures. Be aware of, understand and adhere to food hygiene procedures. Adhere to company policies and procedures. Follow instructions from the Section Manager or other managers. Carry out critical control point (CCP) checks as per training; records must be retained on site.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful:
- A basic level of communication and numeracy is essential.
- You must fully understand the Islamic procedure and conditions for slaughtering animals.
- No qualifications are required; full training will be given to obtain a WATOK licence (Welfare of animals at the time of killing).
- Previous experience in a similar role or in the food manufacturing industry is desirable.
- A basic Food Hygiene certificate and manual handling training are desirable.
- A high degree of self‑motivation and physical fitness are required.
