A little about our Telford site: Our advanced manufacturing site in Telford is one of our main processing facilities, processing up to 1.5 million birds per week. There are over 1,200 talented people employed at our Telford site, helping us to deliver high quality products to our customers and making the business a trusted leader in fresh foods. We’ve recently invested £2.3 million in technology and equipment, making it one of the most advanced food manufacturing facilities in the UK.
About the role: Fundamentally the role of Goods Yard Technical Operative is to offer support to the Transport Team Leader and goods yard team to ensure all goods are supplied to the factory on time and in full. You will ensure trailers are unloaded efficiently and safely and will be the point of contact for the Production team for the goods yard staff, setting priorities to ensure they receive their required products on time and in full.
- Liaison between the Logistics leadership team and the goods yard staff to help set priorities and achieve workloads.
- Liaise directly with production colleagues and allocate workload for the rest of the goods yard team.
- Support the shunter by completing regular trailer checks. These need to be accurate with all fields completed.
- Communicate with the wider Logistics team via the handheld radio.
- Assist in the unloading of trailers using a manual pump truck and a Counterbalance.
- To be aware of, understand, manage, and adhere to health & safety procedures, encouraging safe work behaviours.
- To be aware of, understand, manage, and adhere to food hygiene procedures.
- Be an advocate for a high standard of MHE operation and Health and Safety procedures.
- To comply with and promote all Avara Foods policies and procedures, visions and values.
- To complete electrical checks and report to engineering and transport with issues.
- To support health and safety controls in and around the site.
- To support the control and stock count of loose equipment.
- Other duties within the general scope of the post may be required from time to time.
Working hours: Monday-Friday 07:00-16:00
