Purpose of the Role
As an Engineering Apprentice you will support the Engineering teams with optimising machinery output and product quality and minimise plant downtime through effective planned maintenance and reactive maintenance activities whilst maintaining a safe and healthy environment and promoting good engineering practice.

What The Apprenticeship Entails
- A 4-year multi-skilled, modern apprenticeship
- Qualification will be Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Level 3
- 3 key stages to the apprenticeship
- Stage 1: Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
- Stage 2: Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering covering 750 guided learning hours
- Stage 3: Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering covering assessment of competence in the workplace
Your Key Responsibilities As An Engineering Apprentice Will Be
- Support the Engineering teams to ensure the Engineering maintenance is carried out in line with the schedule and effective and efficient corrective action is taken.
- Develop quick and effective response to breakdowns in more than one area on site, where possible identifying root cause and suggesting possible improvements to prevent further breakdowns occurring.
- Follow good engineering standards and good hygiene practice for the department.
- Ensure all activities are carried out within company and legislative health and safety guidelines, highlighting possible areas of improvement to the Engineering Shift Manager / Principal Engineer.
- Follow the communicated escalation route for unscheduled plant downtime and minimise downtime by following a good engineering practice.
- Demonstrate basic problem solving techniques to identify root cause of issues.
What We Are Looking For
As an Engineering Apprentice we are looking for a driven and ambitious person to join our team. You will have:
- Numerical and reasoning ability to meet entry level requirements for a technical apprenticeship (Functional skills L2 in Literacy and Numeracy as well as pass score in Technical Abilities Test)
- Minimum qualifications are 5 GCSE’s grade 4 or above including: Math’s, English and a science is desirable
- Practical ability to operate within a fast paced, manufacturing environment
- Self‑motivated attitude with the ability to multi‑task and thrive in a fast and busy environment
- Interpersonal communication skills to communicate with all departments at all levels
- Ability to work individually or as part of a team
- Experience in Engineering is desirable but not essential
