Avara Foods is looking for a highly capable Production Section Manager to join the Site Operations team at its advanced processing facility in Telford, Shropshire. This is a key leadership role within a growing, highly automated, chilled food manufacturing site. You will lead, motivate and develop a skilled production team while ensuring operational performance, safety, quality and continuous improvement targets are consistently met.
As Section Manager, you will be accountable to the Production Manager for the operational output of your designated production area. You will ensure that KPIs, performance targets and business objectives are achieved while maintaining full compliance with company policy and legislative requirements. You will play a critical role in safeguarding employee safety, product integrity, equipment reliability and site standards.
This is a predominantly factory-based role within a large, chilled, highly automated FMCG manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and develop Team Leaders and production colleagues within your section
- Drive high standards of food safety, health & safety and quality compliance
- Act as Section Lead during customer visits and audits, ensuring effective planning and delivery
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives with guidance from the Production Manager
- Carry out line-side SICs and feed into shift SICs
- Manage labour, materials and assets effectively, escalating shortfalls where required
- Ensure accurate data capture for performance analysis and reporting
- Apply company policies and procedures consistently across the section
- Develop, review and maintain SOPs for designated areas
- Deputise for the Area Production Manager when required

- Strong organisational, analytical and time management skills
- Experience coaching, mentoring and developing teams to maximise performance
