Avara Foods is one of the UK’s leading food businesses, supplying chicken and turkey to the country’s major supermarkets and well‑known restaurants.

About the Caistor Site

The Caistor, North Lincolnshire site is a further processing facility in the turkey supply chain, producing mince, sausages, burgers and meatballs for retailers, and running a dedicated dark‑meat deboning line for chicken.

The site employs about 300 staff who supply some of the UK’s largest supermarkets and restaurants.

About The Role

The Production Section Manager will work in a fast‑paced, refrigerated factory that operates seven days a week.

The working pattern is Saturday‑Tuesday, 05:30‑18:00 (Sat & Sun) and 05:30‑15:00 (Mon & Tue).

Key responsibilities as a Production Section Manager include

  • Managing and developing team leaders and colleagues within the section.
  • Leading on all food safety, health & safety and quality standards.
  • Acting as the section lead for customer visits and audits, ensuring effective planning and delivery.
  • Implementing continuous improvement initiatives under the guidance of the Production Manager.
  • Conducting line‑side checks for efficiency and productivity improvements.
  • Utilising resources effectively and escalating shortfalls in resource, supply chain or asset reliability.
  • Implementing processes to capture data for management analysis.
  • Ensuring consistency in the application of company policies and procedures.
  • Developing and reviewing SOPs for designated areas.
  • Deputising for the Area Production Manager when required.
  • What You’ll Need To Be Successful
  • Experience as a Section Manager or Team Leader in a similar production environment.
  • Experience of implementing continuous improvement and change management.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations effectively.
  • Strong people‑management skills and the ability to motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication at all levels.
  • Excellent time‑management and analytical skills.
  • Experience of coaching, developing and mentoring teams.
