We’re looking for an Assistant Farm Manager to join our team at our Ermine Street Farm, Shropshire site!

Purpose of the role

As Assistant Farm Manager, you will help with the day to day farm management, ensuring that the farm continually operates within company guidelines and regulations for bird welfare, bio‑security and efficiency.

Your key responsibilities as Assistant Farm Manager will include:

  • Helping with day to day operation of the farm.
  • Following the management systems and programmes laid down in the company code of practice to ensure records and production conditions are maintained on a daily basis.
  • Providing a safe environment consistent with bird requirements at all stages.
  • Assisting in the efficient housing of the birds, ensuring the required checks and adjustments are performed with respect to temperature, ventilation, drinkers, feeders and bedding.
  • Recognising potential health and production problems and taking appropriate action.
  • Ensuring all external audits, including ‘farm assured’ such as Red Tractor, are within guidelines set down by the company.

Hours of Work

07:30 – 16:00, 6 days a week. Due to the nature of the business, working hours may vary at different points of the year to meet seasonal demands.

  • Previous experience of managing livestock
  • Good knowledge of bio‑security and bird welfare standards
  • The ability to build strong working relationships with site and team colleagues.
  • A flexible working approach and self‑motivation.
  • Excellent numeracy and communication skills.
