Working hours will be 4 ON 4 OFF 18.00 - 06.00. Please note this is an office based role at our Brackley offices in Northamptonshire.
What will you be doing at Avara?
As a Logistics Section Manager, you will manage effectively and safely all aspects of the Transport Operation based at Brackley. Ensuring that all Live haul and Distribution plans are achieved, allocating the correct cost effective and safest resource to enable this on time.
What will your key responsibilities as a Logistics Section Manager include?
- To oversee and effectively manage the transport operation
- Operating transport systems such as Tachomaster, Telematics and Jigsaw fuelling software
- To ensure all drivers complete a full debrief, all paperwork including daily vehicle inspections is completed and tacho downloads are made
- To remain up to date on any legislation changes that might affect transport operations
- Ensure that all operations are carried out in a safe and responsible manner
- To fully investigate and take appropriate remedial action for all accidents, near misses or damage within the department and report appropriately
- To ensure that the welfare of the animals is always a priority and that all relevant legislation is adhered to at all times
- Driver induction completed
- Ensure Return to Works are completed on first shift back
- Absence Management of drivers
- Performance Management of drivers
- Dealing with disciplinary Matters should they arise in an efficient but fair manner
- Weekly Compliance Audits completed and non compliance reported to appropriate teams
- Monthly Safety Audits Completed and non compliance reported to the Health & Safety Manager
- Completion of risk assessment where applicable
- Ensure that driver licence checks are completed in line with policy expectations
- SWP creation and training
- Visitor and contractor permits completed and adherence of H&S compliance whilst on site
- Ensure that all Tachograph procedures are adhered to
What You’ll Need To Be Successful:
- Proven track record in logistics and transport operations
- Health and Safety and Compliance responsibility
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- High level of UK Graphical knowledge
- CPC is desirable
- Experience within a Despatch environment is desirable
- First aid qualification or willing to be trained
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work well within a team
- Good attention to detail and a can do attitude
