Avara Foods is one of the UK’s leading food businesses, supplying chicken and turkey to major supermarkets and well-known restaurants. We own and manage our entire supply chain, from farms to factory and all the way to the customer door, with major processing sites across England and Wales and an agricultural network of over 350 farms. This role requires travel to nationwide sites and will be home-based with travel to various sites.

About The Role

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to Standards and Compliance and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Compliance Manager to join our Agriculture team.

Working hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 – 17:00 (home-based with travel to our sites).

What will you be doing as a Compliance Manager at Avara?

Your role is to maintain the Avara standards and take ownership of compliance within the Avara supply chain – chicken, turkey and Milling. You will work with the wider compliance team to ensure all farms, hatcheries and mills are audit-ready, manage end-to-end farm assurance schemes (booking audits, closing out non-conformances, liaising with certification bodies). This role will conduct site audits on the company’s farms/hatcheries/mills with support from the compliance team.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on technical requirements for each standard by developing the necessary policies and procedures
  • Keep Managers and production teams informed of changes to standards/requirements
  • Assist in design and completion of audit paperwork, including non-conformance resolution
  • Complete “spot” audits and communicate/correct non-conformances
  • Conduct Avara Internal Agricultural Audits
  • Conduct supplier audits to agreed protocols; visit supplier premises, perform audits, write reports, deliver feedback to management, and work with suppliers to resolve non-conformances

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Experience of livestock (poultry) and/or poultry processing
  • Up-to-date knowledge of animal welfare standards
  • Experience of audits, customer protocols and relevant legislation desirable
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence at all levels and form lasting relationships
  • Good time management, organized with attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Sound problem solving and decision-making skills
