About the Role
Location: Westbury Mill
Salary: Up to £51,000 per year DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
Job Purpose
Responsibility for the transport operations at Westbury Mill. Working closely with the feed mill production team to efficiently schedule feed deliveries to various farms across England and Wales, as well as arranging collections of raw materials from our supplier base. The role also involves carrying out a range of daily operational tasks in line with customer specifications and internal procedures.
Main Responsibilities
- Efficiently schedule deliveries to farms and collections of raw materials
- Log orders and ensure customer requirements are met
- Manage driver movements to ensure deliveries are completed within required timeframes
- Liaise with the garage/contractors to plan servicing, testing, and maintenance
- Work with the production team to ensure the correct product mix is available when required
- Manage a team of drivers and the transport administration function
- Ensure compliance with regulations and legal standards including Working Time Directive and O Licence requirements
- Challenge processes to optimise operational time and cost efficiency
- Report any operational or transport constraints affecting mill operations
- Act as out-of-hours point of contact for farm changes
- Be a key contact that people want to work for and work with
- Take responsibility for O Licence compliance and the fleet of trucks and trailers
- Manage the HGV workshop and be accountable for P&L

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Transport Manager CPC qualification
- Good understanding of transport operations
- Understanding of Working Time Directive and driver hours regulations
- Experience working with Microsoft systems
Desirable
- Previous experience in transport and production environments
- Knowledge of animal feed or agriculture sectors
- Transport/production scheduling experience
Skills and Abilities
- Good communication and numeracy skills
- Strong communication skills, particularly at driver level
- High level of planning capability under real-time constraints
- Ability to schedule vehicle maintenance, repairs, defects, and servicing
