About the role
As a Technical Shunter, you’ll be working in a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment which is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short shelf life products where hygiene standards are critical.
- Movements of trailers on and off despatch and intake bays.
- Following all safe and standard operating procedures to ensure fridge units are set to the right temperature and the relevant controlled documents completed.
- Liaison with security officers to allocate parking bays to all inbound LGV traffic.
- Carrying out pre-use inspection checks on TUG vehicle, and refuelling as required.
- Monitoring the trailer fleet by conducting regular yard checks which are documented.
- Supporting the yard operatives in their role by assisting with FLT operations, unloading of trailers, and general yard hygiene to help develop a working environment that welcomes and promotes teamwork, which will involve manual handling.
- Documented 2 hourly yard check.
- Updating system with hours for WTD collation.
What you’ll need to be successful
- Possession of a HGV Class 1 Licence
- Forklift Truck Licence
- Knowledge of road haulage, operator licence legislation and transport Health and Safety requirements.
- Professional team player who has worked in a busy yard environment.
- Ability to engage with others and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Good organisational skills.
