Hours of work: 0700 - 1900 - Rotating pattern 7 out of 14 days
We are currently looking for staff to work on a rotational shift pattern that operates as follows: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off. Example shift pattern (over 2 weeks): Week 1: Tue - Wed: off; Thu - Fri: on; Sat - Mon: off. Week 2: Tue - Wed: on; Thu - Fri: off; Sat - Mon: on. This cycle repeats every 2 weeks.
As a Laboratory Technician, you will be a key player in the Laboratory department. You will perform microbiological, chemical, serological and other analysis, and media preparation to enable good customer service in undertaking testing requirements.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking routine laboratory work and performing analysis to CLAS / RSA, UKAS and DEFRA standards.
- Using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in accordance with the procedures.
- Liaising with internal and external customers, dealing with their requests and queries.
- Carrying out environmental controls, QA controls and ensuring adherence to the task rota.
- Participating in the EQA / IQA proficiency schemes.
What we are looking for:
- Education to A level (or equivalent) in Biology or other relevant scientific subject or relevant experience.
- HNC / HND / Degree in science equivalent is ideal.
- Experience of laboratory testing in a food laboratory.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Competent IT skills.
