About the Role

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to engineering across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Engineering Team Leader to join our maintenance team, based at our hatchery in Ower, near Totton.
As the Engineering Team Leader you’ll be a key player in ensuring the consistent smooth running of Hatchery machinery including planning maintenance and reactive repairs, along with continually looking for improvements for future processes.

Working Hours
You will be working 45 hours per week on a 2-week rota, with an on-call requirement:
- Week 1: Monday – Friday 06:00 – 15:30
- Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday 06:00 – 15:30
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the planning, execution and delivery of engineering projects
- Implementing and maintaining engineering best practices and processes across site
- Managing, motivating and mentoring a team of Engineers
- Improving equipment reliability, stamping out recurring faults
- Responsibility for equipment servicing and maintenance with external service providers
- Supporting the back up call out rota
- On-call will be required for this role. It will run on a week-on/week-off basis (Friday to Friday), alternating with the other engineer on the on-call rota
Qualifications
- Previous experience leading or managing a team
- Ability to bring a team together with open communication, teamwork and a positive work culture
- Have completed an Engineering Apprenticeship or qualifications at level 3 or equivalent
- Previous experience within the agricultural or food industry would be beneficial
