Despatch Operative – Hereford
Location: Grandstand Road, Hereford
Hours: 07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00, Continental Shift Pattern
Pay: Minimum £12.65 per hour + additional shift premium £1.23

It is vital the food industry continues operating throughout these uncertain times, and as one of the UK’s largest food businesses, Avara Foods plays a key role in helping feed the nation.
We’re seeking motivated and enthusiastic Despatch Operatives to join our Hereford team. You’ll help facilitate the efficient loading of products for delivery to our customers, ensuring the correct products are picked, loaded, and documented to customer specifications.
While undergoing on-the-job training, you’ll also develop skills in food safety and health & safety, contributing to a high-performing team that helps bring Avara Foods to life.
Key Responsibilities

Pick products to order for outbound loads using a handheld scan gun

Load products accurately, check temperatures, and ensure all paperwork is completed

Carry out pre-operational checks on electric pedestrian trucks to ensure safety and maintenance standards

Collate all relevant paperwork to ensure accurate stock and outbound load records
What We’re Looking For

Good numeracy and communication skills – essential

Effective organisation and time management – essential

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Food Manufacturing – desirable

Previous experience in a food manufacturing or logistics environment – desirable

Basic Food Hygiene, Manual Handling, and Electric Truck Licence – desirable
