Avara Foods is one of the UK’s leading food businesses, supplying chicken and turkey to the country’s major supermarkets and well-known restaurants. We own and manage our entire supply chain, from farms to factory and all the way to the customer door. We have major processing sites across England and Wales, and an agricultural network of over 350 farms, spanning from North Yorkshire to the South Coast and Wales.

The advanced manufacturing site in Telford, one of our main processing facilities, processes up to 1.5 million birds per week. Over 1,200 people are employed there, helping us deliver high‑quality products and maintaining our position as a trusted leader in fresh foods. Recent investments of £2.3 million in technology and equipment have made the Telford site one of the most advanced food manufacturing facilities in the UK.

What will you be doing as an Internal Recruiter at Avara?

You will work alongside the resourcing team to help drive our operational direct recruitment model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial screening and telephone interviewing, and provide feedback/offers to candidates.
  • Update and distribute resourcing trackers and KPIs as required.
  • Ensure that all allocated roles are actively worked on, keeping the Resourcing Officer for the relevant site up to date on progress.
  • Build talent pools for frequent vacancies and develop an understanding of internal succession and talent development.
  • Maintain and follow all processes with our ATS, keeping up to date with system updates.
  • Identify high‑calibre candidates for both active and potential roles.
  • Maintain a high level of candidate engagement and ensure a consistent, positive candidate experience.
  • Register and import candidates into our database.
  • Support the on‑boarding process, including eligibility to work, contract requests, induction planning and delivery where applicable.
  • Use direct recruitment as the primary method, utilising all recruitment media and tools; support agency partners on our PSL where this increases delivery of quality candidates.
  • Build and maintain relationships by working closely with hiring managers to create a positive recruitment experience.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance by following Avara guidelines at all times.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • Previous experience in high‑volume recruitment or working within an agency.
  • Confident communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong time‑management skills.
  • Ability to form strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Motivated and driven.
  • Experience in Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Flexible approach to working hours to support a 24/7 working environment.
  • Ability to travel between sites.
