As Halal Slaughter Operative you will be responsible for culling birds in line with Halal standards and operating within the Intake rotation for the remainder of the shift. You will work in a fast‑paced, dynamic FMCG factory environment that is noisy and refrigerated in some areas, manufacturing short‑shelf‑life products where hygiene standards are critical.

Responsibilities

  • Handle and slaughter live poultry.
  • Perform repetitive work.
  • Participate in job rotation and communicate effectively as part of a team.
  • Adhere to allergen controls.
  • Wear correct PPE for the area you are working in.
  • Understand and adhere to health & safety procedures.
  • Understand and adhere to food hygiene procedures.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Follow instructions as directed by Section Manager or other members of the management team.
  • Carry out critical control point (CCP) checks when required.
  • Maintain basic communication and numeracy skills.
  • Fully understand the Islamic procedure and conditions for slaughtering animals.

Qualifications

  • No qualifications required; full training will be provided to obtain a WATOK licence (Welfare of Animals at the Time of Killing).
  • Previous experience in a similar role or in the food manufacturing industry is desirable.
  • A basic Food Hygiene certificate and manual-handling training are desirable.
  • High degree of self-motivation and physical fitness is required.
