Avantor is looking for a Sales Specialist (f/m/d) to be accountable for the sales, business development, and management of customer accounts in the biomaterials & advanced technology industries within our NuSil Silicone Solutions Portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for driving new business acquisition and expanding NuSil’s presence within an assigned territory and market segments, including medical, aerospace, and advanced materials applications. This role emphasizes hunting, consultative selling, and business development, while also growing strategic relationships with existing customers. You will manage a full sales cycle—from prospecting through close—by identifying customer needs, positioning NuSil’s value proposition, and delivering solution-based offerings that drive revenue growth. This position operates remotely, from a home office, and requires 30–50% travel to customer sites, trade shows, and industry events. You need to be based close to a major European airport. Please note that this role will cover maternity leave, with a minimum contract length of one year.

The successful Strategic Account Manager will be part of a wider European Team of 4 Account Managers & Sales Specialists.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, business, or equivalent applicable experience
  • Typically 5+ years of B2B sales experience in a consultative, solution-based selling environment
  • Demonstrated success prospecting, closing, and growing revenue in technical or complex sales environments
  • Experience selling into technical, scientific, manufacturing, medical device, aerospace, or advanced materials markets strongly preferred
  • Distribution sales and distributor leadership experience are a plus
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and speaking skills in English. An additional European language (German or French preferred) would be an asset
  • Experience working with life sciences, technology, or a science-related company
  • Experience with LinkedIn Sales Navigator and Salesforce would be an asset
  • Experience with value-based sales methodology would be an asset

How You Will Thrive And Create An Impact

  • Position and promote NuSil’s broad product portfolio and solutions across multiple applications and market segments.
  • Expand NuSil’s footprint within existing accounts by identifying cross-sell and upsell opportunities aligned with evolving customer needs.
  • Drive new customer acquisition through active prospecting, lead generation, inbound lead responsiveness, and pipeline management across assigned markets and territories.
  • Own and execute the full sales cycle, including discovery, proposal development, presentations, negotiations, and closing.
  • Establish accurate forecasts and deliver annual revenue targets, including targeted growth from new business.
  • Support and influence distributors and manufacturer representatives to drive pipeline creation, pricing discipline, and revenue growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales Management, Marketing, Technology & Innovation, and Operations to support opportunity development and execution.
  • Represent NuSil at customer sites, industry events, and trade shows to build brand awareness and generate new leads.
  • Continuously monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer feedback to refine sales strategies.
  • Serve as a voice of the customer by communicating application requirements, market trends, and competitive insights to internal teams.

Travel & Work Environment

  • Travel required: 30–50% within Europe, including customer visits, territory/regional travel, and occasional trade shows.
  • Home office–based role with extensive field engagement.
  • Must be able to travel by car (driver's license) and air as required.
  • Valid passport required.
