The Opportunity: Avantor is looking for a dedicated and experienced Laboratory Service Lead, to join our team in Cambridge, UK . In this role, you’ll take responsibility for managing a team of Laboratory Technicians who work across chemistry laboratories. You will play a pivotal role in supporting operations, including waste management, housekeeping, and equipment maintenance, ensuring seamless service delivery to enable scientific excellence. This role will be a full-time permanent position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site – The Discovery Centre , Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Working hours : Monday to Friday, core hours The Team You will join a team of three Laboratory Services Leads, each with expertise in different laboratory disciplines. You’ll be responsible for leading and mentoring four Laboratory Technicians based in a chemistry laboratory. You will be part of our Lab and Production Services department, which supports large pharmaceutical companies and laboratories globally in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry. What we’re looking for Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (preferably Chemistry/Biochemistry) or equivalent experience in a laboratory environment Experience: People management, including recruitment, behavioural management and staff development Laboratory experience, including knowledge of SHE requirements in a laboratory setting, with IOSH certification being desirable Familiarity with GLS, GxP regulations, audit requirements and CAPA’s Incident response and investigation, including root cause analysis (RCA’s) Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis/reporting.
