Overview
Avantor is looking for a Junior Buyer – In Vivo to join the team based in Cambridge, UK. In this full-time permanent role you’ll take ownership in supporting animal studies from a procurement perspective, managing ordering of laboratory animals (rats and mice), animal diet, enrichment materials and consumables. The role is based at the brand-new facility at the Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement of laboratory animals, diets, enrichment and consumables, ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards
- Act as the main point of contact for in vivo research staff, handling procurement queries and coordinating with internal stakeholders
- Track orders through to delivery, and maintain accurate documentation for compliance and audits
- Support continuous improvement by identifying operational efficiencies and contributing to a safe, ethical, and collaborative team environment
Qualifications
- Previous experience in procurement, ideally within a regulated scientific or in vivo research environment
- Familiarity with procurement systems
- Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Knowledge of import/export regulations and DEFRA notifications is preferable
- Understanding of SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) policies and procedures
- Sensitivity to the ethical and regulatory considerations of in vivo research
- Understanding of how procurement supports the broader goals of in vivo research and animal welfare
