The Opportunity: Under moderate supervision, provide direct benchtop services support at customer facilities. Execute routine laboratory support procedures and preparations (e.g. media/buffer prep, solvent/reagent mixtures, filtrations, material weighing, some physical testing, witness senior staff experiments). Maintain lab inventory and labeling (e.g. chemical reagents, glassware, gas cylinder levels). Verification/maintenance of laboratory equipment (e.g. balances, pH meters, sonicator cleaning, glass washing).
You will take responsibility for conducting scientific deliveries and providing technical operational support with scientific equipment. We are offering this role on a full-time, permanent basis. You will be based at our client's location in Cambridge, so travel will be essential.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:- Conducting general deliveries from the basement sorting hub to laboratories.
- Providing customer service to end users.
- Receiving restricted goods, conducting their relevant chain of custody records, then arranging for their digital and physical archiving.
- Completing specialist time-critical activities, including liquid nitrogen fills into scientific equipment, fixed critical daily delivery runs, and cryogenic deliveries.
- Utilizing dedicated tracker software for the movement of samples.
- Conducting collections of internal samples from the lab, to be moved for processing for external movement.
- Daily recording of the internal auditing for the collection and outward movement of sequencing samples.
- Internal distribution of samples and inter-laboratory movements.
- Receipting goods onto tracking software, to monitor the internal movement of goods.
- Data analysis/recording of consumption trends of scientific machinery and activity.
- Knowledge of working within logistics/operations environments preferable.
- Experience with handling dangerous goods/cryogenic materials preferable.
- ADR familiarity preferable.
- Experience working with scientific research organisations preferable.
- Familiarity of working towards deadlines.
- Knowledge of Information intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel.
- High regard for safety, quality and adherence to protocols, policies and procedures.
