We take on essential, routine laboratory tasks and scale them to meet the needs of all research groups across the Discovery Centre. Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of media, buffers, and sterile solutions
- Operating autoclaves and sterilizing glassware and plasticware
- Aseptic aliquoting within Class II MBSC
- Operating automated and semiautomated laboratory equipment
- Calibration of pH meters and balances
- Using digital ordering systems and replenishing consumables
- Supporting glasswash operations and general laboratory housekeeping
- Monitoring expiry dates and ensuring compliance with GLS, GxP and SHE standards
Requirements
- Willingness to learn and develop
- Experience with aseptic technique or stock management is an advantage
- Customer service experience is required
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Previous laboratory experience and understanding of SHE requirements
Working Conditions
- Labbased role located in the basement area of the Discovery Centre in Cambridge
- Manual, hands-on work with regular standing
- Occasional lifting and movement of laboratory materials
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00–16:00
