Executes day-to-day inventory & material management tasks at customer facilities, following a varied set of procedures. Tasks include the management and processing (storage, handling, inventory control and distribution) of critical materials used in laboratory and production environments, such as consumables, chemicals, solvents and reagents. Problems and issues are typically less concrete and frequently changing, like unexpected shortages of critical consumables due to supplier delays, differences between recorded inventory levels and actual stock, requiring an investigation into miscounts, misplaced items, or data entry errors, or expired chemicals or reagents that were not properly rotated, leading to waste and requiring adjustments to storage protocols. Problems and issues are solved by applying experience from comparable situations in the past and/or selecting solutions within known alternatives. Communicates inventory related information, activity records, service level metrics and other information requiring explanation or interpretation to team members, supervisors or customers. As a Logistics Technician, you will help deliver Avantor\βs technical logistics service for a major pharmaceutical client at their R&D headquarters on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The role is based in south Cambridge and will require travel. You will follow all health and safety requirements, maintain regulatory compliance for yourself and your team, and work in line with established SOPs. Reporting to the Logistics Service Lead, you will ensure operational service targets are met and contribute to continuous improvement to enhance service quality for our client. We\βre seeking a proactive, hard-working team player with strong communication skills and the flexibility to work within an established team in the 07:00 β 15:00h shift.
Service Responsibilities
- Providing customer service to end users.
- Completing specialist time critical activities, with key activities including:
- Liquid nitrogen fills into bespoke scientific equipment
- Fixed critical daily delivery runs
- Cryogenic activities
- Solvent drum delivery and changeovers
- Conducting collections of internal samples from the lab
- Using dedicated software, tailored to monitor the tracking of internal movements within the client\βs R&D centre.
- Data analysis/recording of consumption trends of scientific machinery and activity.
- Completing and archiving chain of custody records for HBS/RMS/GCB.
- Daily recording of the internal auditing for the collection and outward movement of sequencing samples.
- Conducting general deliveries from the basement sorting hub to the lab.
