You’ll be joining a fast-paced, award-winning educational technology company at the forefront of digital learning innovation. As a Company, Avantis has a long-standing passion for transforming education through technology. Our pioneering solutions—such as ClassVR—are revolutionising the classroom experience.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Web Developer within the Data Team, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and optimising Avantis’s websites, internal applications and digital platforms, alongside supporting marketing-led web initiatives. The role will involve building and enhancing applications using Node.js, as well as providing development support to the Product and wider business teams as required. You will work closely with Data, Product, Marketing and Design stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable and user-friendly digital solutions that align with business objectives. Acting as a key point of contact between internal teams, external partners and hosting providers, you will help ensure consistent platform performance, timely updates and a flexible approach to meeting evolving technical and business needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, maintain and optimise our websites, internal applications and digital platforms using modern web technologies and CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress, HubSpot and Node.js–based applications).
  • Build and enhance web applications and internal tools to support data, product and business requirements.
  • Implement new pages, features and functionality that support marketing, product and data initiatives while improving user experience.
  • Ensure all digital platforms are responsive, accessible, secure, SEO-optimised and aligned with our brand and messaging.
  • Monitor platform performance and analytics, applying data-driven improvements to speed, usability, reliability and engagement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, working with internal teams, external consultants and hosting providers where required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, including GDPR and accessibility guidelines (e.g. WCAG).
  • Manage and maintain integrations with CRM systems, data pipelines, APIs, online forms and other business tools.
  • Collaborate closely with Data, Product, Marketing and Design teams to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Maintain platform updates, backups, version control and documentation in line with best practices.
  • Provide development support, guidance, and technical input to colleagues across the business when required, adapting to evolving priorities and learning new technologies as needed.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience developing, maintaining or supporting corporate websites and web-based applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of modern web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and content management systems (e.g. WordPress, HubSpot).
  • Experience developing or supporting applications using Node.js and PHP and working with APIs or backend services.
  • Understanding of website performance, SEO best practices and web analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Search Console).
  • Familiarity with web hosting environments, cloud platforms, DNS and domain management.
  • Aware of security, accessibility and compliance standards, including GDPR and WCAG.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables and adapt to evolving business requirements.
  • A relevant qualification in Computer Science, IT, Web Development or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
