Responsibilities
- Avantis is a full-stack teaching and education platform delivering cutting-edge VR and immersive education solutions globally.
- At the heart of our products lies a rich ecosystem of data, including user feedback, telemetry, monitoring and performance measurement.
- As a Data Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development and maintenance of multiple data sources and pipelines.
- You will help build scalable frameworks and abstraction layers that enable teams across the business to effectively access, analyse and leverage data to enhance our products, improve learning outcomes and drive innovation.
- This is a hands-on role requiring solid technical skills, the ability to contribute to complex projects and a passion for building robust, high-performance data systems.
- Design, build and maintain scalable data architectures, pipelines and frameworks to support analytics, monitoring and reporting needs.
- Own and manage multiple data sources, including telemetry, feedback and real-time system data.
- Develop common data abstraction layers to ensure consistency, reliability and usability across the business.
- Build and optimise SQL-based data solutions to support analytics and visualisation.
- Design and implement real-time analytics systems to capture and process live data streams.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product and analytics teams to translate business needs into effective data solutions.
- Ensure data quality, performance, security and reliability across all platforms.
- Contribute to and self-manage technical projects from design through to delivery.
- Support knowledge sharing and contribute to team best practices.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Python for data engineering, pipeline development and scripting.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, including performance optimisation and complex queries.
- Experience with AWS cloud services, including deployment, data infrastructure and managed services.
- Proven experience in data engineering and data visualisation.
- Experience designing and building real-time analytics systems.
- Ability to architect scalable, maintainable and high-performance data solutions.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on assigned projects.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience with AWS Redshift for cloud data warehousing and analytics.
- Exposure to Java or other JVM-based languages.
- Familiarity with modern data platforms, streaming technologies and distributed systems.
Experience
- Experience in software development, with exposure to or a focus on data-related roles.
- Experience working within technical environments on data or backend engineering projects.
