Avantia Law specialises in providing cutting-edge legal compliance solutions. We aim to empower our clients by identifying potential risks early on, thereby enabling informed deal decision-making and efficient due diligence processes. We are seeking a Due Diligence Analyst to join our dynamic team. Joining Avantia's new ScreenFirst team, you will prepare open source screening reports including research, desktop review, background checks and risk analysis on corporate entities and individuals. If you have a strong propensity for research, critical thinking, curiosity and a willingness to "leave no stone unturned" when carrying out research, this role is for you.
As our growth continues, there will be new and exciting opportunities to get involved and contribute to our continued evolution and success, including working with LegalTech. Joining our industry leading Investment Compliance practice, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting research, screening and performing in-depth checks on businesses and individuals against global databases. This includes (but not limited to) searching for sanctions hits & watchlists, PEP, adverse media and source of wealth.
- Interpreting screening results, assessing regulatory compliance, and identifying potential risks and red flags.
- Producing clear and concise risk summaries and scorecards, highlighting key findings and recommendations for further action.
- Being the point of contact for client queries, managing their compliance processes end to end and to deadlines.
- Working with other Avantia lawyers and analysts, reviewing the work of more junior team members and assisting with training when required.

Requirements:
- 1+ years experience conducting desktop review and related research at a business risk provider or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree at 2.1 or above.
- Experience working with asset management, investment banking or other FS clients highly desirable.
- Ability to analyse data and information to identify potential risks.
- Strong commercial awareness with a solutions-first approach and strong attention to detail.
- Happy working to strict turnaround times and deadlines.
- Familiarity with screening tools (e.g. Dow Jones or World-Check) valuable (but not essential).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and effectively.
