Avanti is currently working with a leading precision engineering manufacturer who is looking to recruit an experienced CNC Milling Programmer Setter / Operator to join its growing machining team near Oxford. This is an excellent opportunity to join a modern, highly professional engineering environment producing complex precision components for industries including Nuclear, Medical, Scientific and Semiconductor. The company specialises in low-volume, high-complexity machining work, meaning this role would suit someone who enjoys technical variety and challenging projects rather than repetitive production machining.
Responsibilities:
- Programming CNC milling machines
- Setting and operating CNC machinery
- Producing precision machines components to tight tolerances
- Reading / Interpreting engineering drawings
- Working on complex one off and small batch components
- Supporting continuous improvement within the machine shop
- Carry out self-inspection and quality checks
This is a varied position, working across a wide range of component sizes and technical projects.
Essential skills:
- CNC milling programming experience
- 5-axis machine experience
- Precision engineering background
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Experience working to tight tolerances
- Strong attention to detail
Desirable:
- Heidenhain controls
- Large part machining experience
- Doosan / Matsuura or Mazak machinery
- Offline programming experience
- Regulated industry experience
Salary & Benefits:
Salary is up to £50,000 (DOE) + 23 days holiday (plus bank holidays) + 4% Match pension contribution
Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm
Friday: 7:00am – 2:30pm
