Our client develops cutting-edge applications used to accelerate breakthroughs in DNA and serious disease research. They’re now seeking an IT Support Engineer to provide exceptional customer and technical support across their internal infrastructure and application landscape.
The Role:
- As an IT Support Engineer, you’ll be the first point of contact for technical issues across a wide range of hardware, software, and network systems.
- You’ll work closely with internal users, 3rd party applications, and server environments to maintain the highest levels of service delivery.

Responsibilities:
- Provide outstanding 1st-2nd line support to internal users, resolving a wide range of technical issues.
- Troubleshoot problems across Windows servers, Microsoft Office 365, networking, Active Directory, and occasional Linux machines.
- Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure, including server performance and patching.
- Perform software builds and rebuilds on PCs and laptops.
- Travel to other UK offices (Cambridge and Chichester) as needed to provide on-site support.
- Patch servers one Sunday every other month (paid overtime or TOIL).
- Ensure full compliance with data protection regulations and internal policies.
- Maintain documentation and contribute to knowledge base articles.
- Keep service desk tickets updated in real-time and escalate issues appropriately.
- Collaborate closely with internal departments to understand business-critical systems and workflows.
What We’re Looking For:
- A proactive, reliable engineer with a passion for great customer service.
- Strong troubleshooting ability and excellent communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Servers, Office 365, Exchange, Active Directory, and basic networking.
- Some familiarity with Linux is a plus.
- Full UK driving licence - travel to Cambridge and Chichester is required occasionally.
Working Pattern:
- Onsite in Nottingham 4 days per week, Friday work-from-home.
- One Sunday every other month for server patching (TOIL or paid overtime).
- Travel to other UK offices (Cambridge and Chichester).
Salary & Benefits:
- £30,000-£35,000 depending on experience.
