About us and the role

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed Learning Coach to join Avanti House Primary and play an important role in helping children learn, grow and believe in their own potential. You will work closely with teachers and colleagues to provide engaging and inclusive learning support across the classroom, in small groups and on an individual basis, adapting your approach to help each child succeed. By valuing every child as a unique individual, our approach is rooted in educational excellence, character development and spiritual insight, supporting children to flourish academically, socially and personally. This is a rewarding opportunity to build meaningful relationships with children, contribute to a positive and nurturing learning environment, and develop your own skills and practice alongside experienced colleagues. If you are passionate about education and want to make a genuine difference to children’s learning, wellbeing and confidence, we would love to hear from you. School visits are welcomed and encouraged.

What will you do?

  • Provide flexible individual, small-group and whole-class learning support, helping children to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children, understanding their individual strengths, needs and learning styles while promoting inclusion, confidence and independence.
  • Support children with SEND and those learning English as an additional language, implementing agreed strategies and adapting learning approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Work closely with teachers, colleagues, families and specialist professionals to share information, support pupil progress and contribute positively to the wider life and ethos of the school.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, wellbeing and safeguarding, while actively engaging in professional development and contributing to a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Why should you apply

Avanti exists to help each person become a well-rounded human being through intellectual, moral and spiritual growth, and so make the world a better place. You will be working in a fantastic environment, with:

  • Great opportunities for professional development
  • LGPS pension scheme (subject to eligibility)
  • O2 discounts, Specsavers corporate eye test vouchers
  • Eligible for NUS Card and CSSC membership
  • Well-being programs (retreats, yoga, wellness apps)
  • Cycle-to-work Scheme

What are we looking for?

  • Evidence of strong communication skills; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Excellent level of literacy and numeracy skills
  • Experience of general administrative work e.g. photocopying, laminating and the ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to work with teachers to observe, monitor and provide constructive feedback on children’s progress
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people within the school

Pre-employment checks

Avanti Schools Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates are required to have an Enhanced DBS check unless internally appointed and still within the cycle of DBS re-checks. Any appointment subsequently made will be subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and other pre-employment checks.

Diversity and Inclusion

We want to make sure we are attracting the widest possible range of people and ensure that they are accepted, understood and treated equally when they work here. This means we will work hard to understand that each employee is unique and ensuring that individuals or groups are not treated differently or less favourably on the basis of specific characteristics. Such characteristics include (but are not limited to) age, disability, gender including transgender, race, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, and how the school supports pregnant women and new parents.
