We are seeking an experienced Pastoral and Spiritual Wellbeing Practitioner with a background in leading spiritual and holistic development activities within an educational setting. The ideal candidate will have empathetic listening skills, the ability to handle sensitive issues, and a comprehensive understanding of major world religions. This role is based at Avanti Gardens School, part of the Avanti Schools Trust, located in Bristol, South West England.

SALARY: £27,715 - £29,578 FTE / Approx. £4,433 - £4,731 (0.15994 FTE) annually

LOCATION: Bristol, South West England (BS16)

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent (Term Time Only)

WORKING HOURS: 7.5 hours per week during term time

Job Overview

This position offers an exciting opportunity to support the holistic development of students and staff—emotionally, spiritually, and mentally—in alignment with the school's ethos and values. The practitioner will provide one-to-one emotional and spiritual support and facilitate reflective discussion groups for pupils, staff, and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teaching, pastoral, and inclusion teams to enhance wellbeing and chaplaincy services.
  • Plan and deliver assemblies, immersive workshops, and community outreach activities, creating meaningful wellbeing resources.
  • Develop and evaluate the chaplaincy programme, supporting new members and fostering a spiritually nurturing school culture.
  • Provide individual emotional and spiritual wellbeing support to students.
  • Facilitate spiritual insight discussion groups for staff, students, and parents.
  • Offer support and guidance during times of bereavement and social or personal difficulties.
  • Support heads of year and the inclusion team in wellbeing initiatives.
  • Organize immersive workshops to enhance understanding of festival days.
  • Create wellbeing content such as videos and newsletters for students.
  • Assist in the induction of new staff and students.
