Avanti Fields School is seeking an inspiring Subject Lead for Geography, with middle leadership responsibility for the subject, working closely with the Head of Humanities and History Lead. This role offers the opportunity to shape and lead a high-quality Geography curriculum that is ambitious, well sequenced and inclusive, promoting curiosity about the world and supporting strong outcomes for all pupils.
The successful candidate will lead curriculum planning, assessment and resourcing within Geography, monitor standards and drive subject improvement. As a subject leader, you will support and develop colleagues, promote consistently high expectations in teaching and learning, and embed literacy, numeracy and digital skills across the subject, while modelling excellent classroom practice.

What will you do?
- Lead and develop a high-quality Geography curriculum, ensuring strong progress, achievement and inclusive outcomes for all pupils.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the subject, including curriculum planning, self-evaluation, health and safety, and contribution to whole-school priorities.
- Line manage, support and appraise Geography staff, fostering a culture of professional growth, collaboration and shared accountability.
- Model excellent classroom practice through high-quality teaching, assessment and behaviour management, underpinned by strong subject knowledge.
- Promote safeguarding, pupil wellbeing and positive relationships with pupils, families, colleagues and external partners in line with statutory and Trust expectations.
