A Kitchen Porter / General Catering Assistant who is a fast learner with the ability to work unsupervised and follow instructions is required for Avanti Fields School, part of Avanti Schools Trust, based in Leicester, Leicestershire.
TRAINING PROVIDED – NO KITCHEN EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Whilst some kitchen experience is desirable, it is not essential as training will be provided for the right candidate.
SALARY: £12.80 per hour
LOCATION: Leicester, Leicestershire (LE5) – Fully Site Based
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent (term time only)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Kitchen Porter / General Catering Assistant who is a fast learner with the ability to work unsupervised and follow instructions. As the Kitchen Porter / General Catering Assistant, you will support the kitchen and food & beverage team to keep everything running smoothly. You will ensure all kitchen areas are clean and tidy, ensuring crockery and cutlery are ready for service, and assisting with food preparation. This is a great opportunity to be part of a fast-paced and supportive environment.
DUTIES
- Daily cleaning of all kitchen areas, staff canteens and kitchen corridors
- The washing of all kitchen equipment for the chefs and all crockery and cutlery for the restaurant service staff
- Ensure the kitchen is kept clean during service times and that all walk-through areas are kept clear of any obstruction and that floors are kept dry
- Communicate effectively with all staff
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- The ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment
- Ability to follow strict instructions in a systematic and consistent manner
- Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen health and safety
- Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
- Previous kitchen / catering or Front of House experience is desirable
