We are looking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant who can make a strong contribution to teaching and learning at Avanti Meadows. The role involves delivering learning activities, supporting pupil progress and working collaboratively with teachers to ensure effective provision for all learners, including those with additional needs. You will take an active role in assessment, feedback and classroom practice, helping to maintain high standards across the school. This is a varied position with real impact on pupil outcomes.

Avanti Meadows is a brand-new primary school in Bishop’s Stortford. Surrounded by fields and new housing estates, the school is a centre for the new community developing in the north of Bishop’s Stortford. What will you do?

  • Deliver high-quality learning activities across individuals, groups and whole classes, adapting support to meet pupils’ needs and promote independence.
  • Support pupils’ progress through effective assessment, feedback and targeted interventions, including delivery of EHCP-linked provision.
  • Work closely with teachers to plan, prepare and evaluate learning, contributing to pupil records, reporting and next steps.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment, modelling high expectations and encouraging engagement, collaboration and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to wider school life, including safeguarding, compliance, enrichment activities, use of ICT and supporting colleagues where appropriate.

What are we looking for?

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Excellent level of literacy and numeracy skills or qualifications to NVQ level 2 English and Maths.
  • Experience of working with children with additional learning needs.
  • Ability to understand the role of parents and carers, with the ability to relate and build excellent working relationships.
  • Ability to observe, monitor and provide constructive feedback on pupils progress.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people within the school.
